Children/Chiropractic Part2

Learning to Walk

When children first begin to walk they take a few steps and bump; they fall over. Sometimes they fall and hit the furniture or a wall corner. Bumps and falls are a natural process of growing up. They DO NOT usually cause major spinal injury but what can occur is small micro trauma and malpositions that over time can affect the spine and central nervous system.

Children bump and jar their spine constantly in the first five years of life. Some of these effects may include damage of delicate nerve tissue, discs, blood vessels and other soft tissues may swell and become inflamed, bone spurs and abnormal bone growth may occur and various systems (immune, digestive, respiratory, etc) throughout the body may malfunction.

Pain or other obvious symptoms may not be present at the time yet optimal health and well-being have been compromised.
