The Heart- Healthy Spine
Even though we are dealing now with a more sophisticated patient population, most people do not recognize there is a connection between the spine and the heart.
The natural pacemaker, the sino-atrial node keeps the heart at a steady rhythm.
The sympathetic nerves cause the heart to speed up and the parasympathetic nerves slow the heart down. The sympathetic nerves originate from the thoracic spine (upper back) and the parasympathetic nerves from the brain to the neck. A balanced spine provides that these nerves function correctly.
