Of great interest to the chiropractor are vertebral subluxations which occur as the small bones in the baby's spine are pushed out of their natural alignment. These spinal bones can be pushed or pulled out of normal alignment from mechanical forces (i.e., compression, traction) during the process of birth. Most birth injuries do not cause infant death, and many go unnoticed for years. Subluxations occur when the infant is pulled, twisted and compressed during birth.
